Dare you enter the ancient Gatopolis is search of buried treasure?

This is a story that is told in mouse homes around the world: once, our people lived in prosperity and freedom. Life was easy, as we were sustained by our greatest treasure.

Then, the armies of the cat folk appeared. They burned out homes to the ground and destroyed our farms. Those who did not flee became slaves, building the mighty Gatopolis, the City of Cats.

Legend has it that our treasure is still hidden somewhere in the Gatopolis, if only someone were brave enough to seek it out...

This game is a work in progress and there are a few sneaky bugs that need to be fixed. It would be a really big help if you could report these so I can iron them out, thank you!

The way the game feels like a cartoon in its presentation, from the large sprites and fun, detailed backgrounds, to the way the main character has to build up speed and is a little slippery when you turn, is such great fun. You can barely tell the game is made of "tiles" at all!

This is unironically one of the best games I've seen on itch.io

One of the few I downloaded as apposed to playing in browser. Really impressive game congrats

Super nice art and it feels really good to play! You did a great job!

There's a softlock in stage 4 after grabbing the treasure, you can backtrack and go back into the starting screen, and you get stuck there. Can't leave and can't die.

It looks really good!

Banger

Was the holding B recently added? My only complaint previously was the movement speed but now it feels great.

Amazing looking game super clean, one of the best for art style I have played well done

I played "Retro Mode" on my original Game Boy Color and loved it! The game is very entertaining and offers a great varity of gameplay/scene.

Chapters 3 and 4 are good balanced challenge! (I had two game overs in Chapter 4 , but still made it to the end and bring back home my cheese)

Fabulous pixel art and music! GG!

Oh, and I immediately recognized you from your drawing style. It was like, "Hey, that's the guy who did the animation of the kid falling into his Game Boy."

Pretty art

Loved the art style and the game was fun!
I'd add some 1-ups or add a life if you get a heart when your health is full, that way dying wouldn't be as frustrating haha

Thanks for the suggestion! I've added some extra health and extra lives so it should be a little less frustrating now

Nice game, but quite frustrating that you have to start all over when you lose all your lives.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what I can do about that!

agreed , especially with the amount of blind jumps where it easy to lose a life

I've added a Continue function for game overs, I'll look at adding a Modern mode that gives unlimited lives for people who prefer to play this way.

GB Studio?

Yup, GB Studio! Please let me know if you find any bugs or if you feel the difficulty isn't right, I want to know if I need to adjust it 😅
